Please join us for coffee and brainstorming. Join Braintree staff and just hang out for an hour of kicking around business ideas. We will be hanging out at the PB &Jelly Beans on Temple Court in Downtown Mansfield. What are we going to do? That is up to you. Bring your business ideas (even if it is on a napkin) and we will talk about it. Need help with a marketing plan, let the group help you? Do you have talents or time and would like to interact with others starting or operating their business? Then we are looking for you!!! Our goal is to be informal and flexible. Our desire is to help grow the business community through group interaction and collaboration and of course drink coffee... No cost to attend but of course PB& Jelly Bean would appreciate your patronage.
This event is held the fourth Thursday of the month.

Bob Cohen Print E-mail

CEO and Director Of Business Assistance

bob_cohenBob Cohen has served as CEO and Director Of Business Assistance since March of 2007. In this role, he serves as a resource person for technology entrepreneurs in a multi-county area of north east Ohio as part of Ohio's Third Frontier-funded TechLift Program. He served as Braintree's Executive Director from July of 2004 until March of 2007.  Previous to accepting the position at Braintree, he spent ten years working as regional manager for a Washington-based international business development agency and one year as operations manager for a Columbus-based micro-enterprise program.  Cohen, who has lived in the Mansfield area since 1988, has served as an adjunct faculty member of North Central State College and Ashland University, and is currently on the faculty of The Ohio State University Mansfield, and OSU's Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster.

Bob has a Ph.D in Higher Education from Ohio University, an M.A. from The Ohio State University, an MBA from Franklin University, and a B.A. from the University of Akron.  He is a licensed insurance agent, and a Certified Business Advisor (CBA).  His entrepreneurial background is in the insurance and broadcasting industries.  In his spare time he enjoys traveling and has been to all fifty states, all ten Canadian provinces and a total of 32 countries.

 
Bob Leach Print E-mail

Director of Operations

leach_bobBob Leach joined Braintree in April 2007 as coordinator of all activities of the Mansfield/Richland Incubator program, and also as director of the Northern Ohio IT Association.  Previously he spent 11 years as the Facility Manager and Systems Administrator for an Optical Disk and Video Duplication facility in Grove City, OH. Prior to that, Bob spent ten years in management for a large Home Center retailer and four years in the US Navy.

Bob is a Graduate of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and served on board the commissioning crew of the USS Georgia SSBN 729.  Bob's entrepreneurial experience comes from several companies in the construction industry.

 
Ken Cline Print E-mail

Director of Manufacturing and Technology Small Business Development Center

cline_kenKen joined the Braintree staff in May of 2008 as the MTSBDC Director.  Ken is a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in the Viet Nam conflict.  He is a lifelong Mansfield, Ohio area resident   Ken is a graduate of Ashland University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  He has over 30 years in operations management experience at AK Steel in Mansfield, Ohio.  In addition, he as served as a substitute teacher and real estate agent, as well as sales coordinator for Carter Machine Company in Galion, Ohio.  Prior to becoming the MTSBDC Director, Ken was the Director of the Manufacturing Competitiveness Initiative at Ashland University.  Ken will be serving the small manufacturers in a seventeen county area as a Certified Business Advisor.

 
Tim Moore Print E-mail

Director Small Business Development Center, Region 6

tmoore_web_fullTim Moore serves as the Director of the Region 6 SBDC. After High School Tim enlisted in the U.S. Airforce and served as part of the Strategic Air Command during the Viet-Nam conflict. Following his military service, Tim earned a bachelors degree In Ag Economics from The Ohio State University. Tim then taught Ag Economics at the JVS Career and Technology School. During the 1980's Tim's career slowly moved into radio and media until Tim owned and operated several radio stations, newspapers and a publishing Company in Ohio throughout the 1990's. After selling his companies, Tim joined the SBDC in April 2003 as a Certified Business Advisor. In November 2005 Tim became the Director of the Region 6 SBDC. 

 
Kathryn Goon Print E-mail

Certified Business Advisor

goonkathrynwebKathy Goon is a Certified Business Advisor for the Small Business Development Center at Braintree, she provides in-depth counseling and training assistance for new and existing small businesses in order to promote growth, expansion, innovation, increased productivity and improved management.  Kathy is a native of Ashland and was the office manager for Ashland Scales. She earned her MBA from Ashland University and has received her CBA (Certified Business Adviser) certification. Goon has 15 years of business experience.

 
Barrett Thomas Print E-mail

Barrett Thomas SBDC Business Advisor

barrett_thomas_Barrett Thomas joined Braintree in May of 2009 as a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Business Advisor. He will also create and direct a small business microfinance lending program that will serve the Northern Ohio region. Barrett comes to Braintree with three years of micro-lending and program development experience gained in both domestic and international settings. He has also previously served as the Specialist for Information Management at the American Red Cross of Greater Columbus. Barrett acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Systems at Taylor University. He is a long-time Ohio resident and currently resides with his wife in Mansfield.

 
Michalina Lacy Print E-mail

Administrative Assistant

micki1bioMichalina Lacy is the Administrative Assistant of the SBDC and Braintree.  Michalina is a native of Northern Ohio.  She obtained an Associates Degree in Business Administration from North Central State College in 2002 and then obtained her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, focusing on Business Management and Marketing studies from Ashland University.  She  graduated cum laude and is a member of the Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society for business majors.  Michalina has spent the past 7 years working in an administrative role for the Small Business Development Center.  In her free time, Michalina likes to spend time with her family and friends, going on walks with her two dogs, hiking, camping, and painting.

 
LaKisha Allen Print E-mail

Intern

LaKisha Allen joined Braintree as an intern in September 2007. LaKisha is a native of Mansfield, Ohio. She is currently a senior at Ohio State University Mansfield Campus majoring in Economics. She has obtained an Associate's Degree in March 2008 from the Ohio State University Mansfield Campus. Prior to returning to school Lakisha was employed as a temp at the Ohio Education Association in Lexington, OH as an Administrative Secretary and an Administrative Assistant for three years. Prior to interning at Braintree Lakisha has also worked as an intern for the Center for Corporate and Community Education in 2006
