The Canton Regional Chapter of SCORE recognized four area small businesses for success in starting or growing their firms at SCORE's seventh annual recognition luncheon on December 8 in the Conference Center on the campus of Kent State University at Stark. Co-sponsoring the event were Consumers National Bank; Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A; and Maloney + Novotny LLC, three organizat...ions that are supporting SCORE's mission to strengthen the area's small business community. SCORE, founded in 1964, is a national organization of current and retired executives that provides counsel to America's small businesses. The Canton Regional Chapter with 37 volunteer members is one of more than 300 chapters with some 12,000 volunteers whose counsel is provided cost-free. The chapter serves both for profit and non-profit businesses and covers Stark, Holmes, Carroll, Tuscarawas and Harrison counties. One of the four businesses honored is a client of the SBDC - Small Business Development Center - that coordinates closely with SCORE. InfoGPS Networks Inc., with offices in Mansfield and North Canton, sought counsel from SBDC. The software company targets highly regulated industries required to manage the risks associated with collection non-public information. InfoGPS "Information Governance Software" views, tracks, monitors and classifies data in real time for businesses and organizations of all sizes within various market segments. Brunner Tool & Repair, located in Canton, was founded in 2006 and sought counsel from SCORE on how to expand its business. The company provides repairs, maintenance services and custom designs for outdoor power equipment and pressure washers. Hannah's House 119, located in East Canton, enriches girls' lives by connecting them to meaningful relationships through foster families, adoptive families and mentors, giving them a stronger chance of rising above their circumstances while enhancing the quality of their lives and learning to make valuable life choices as they transition to adulthood. Hazel and Rye Artisan Bakery, located in North Canton, has built a niche as the maker of quality all-natural bakery products. It also serves breakfast and lunch in a friendly dining room. In 2015 Canton Regional SCORE, named Chapter of the Year in 2014 in a district that includes 11 chapters in northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania, was a top five finalist for National Chapter of the Year honors.
