Braintree, BioOhio, CWRU, and the City of Akron explore Baltic Opportunities
Spreading the BioOhio message in the Baltics
by Schutte on September 13, 2012 Earlier this week, BioOhio’s Scott Osborne spoke at Life Sciences Baltics 2012 in Vilnius, Lithuania. It marked the first time BioOhio has played the Baltics. Event organizers invited Scott to discuss “Bringing Regional Life Science Resources Together to Create a Sustainable Infrastructure for Growth.” He described what the State of Ohio has done over the past three decades to parlay its bioscience assets and resources into a thriving, growing cluster. With the largest U.S. presence, Ohio also was represented by Case Western Reserve University’s Dr. Arnold Caplan, Bob Cohen of Braintree Business Development Center, Ingrida Bublys, Consulate General of Lithuania from Cleveland, Akron Deputy Mayor Robert Bowman, and Robert Anthony of REA Inc. The event featured a keynote address by Prof. Ada Yonath, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, 2009, and drew more than 700 attendees from Europe, Asia, the U.S., Australia, and Israel.
