Four area small businesses received recognition earlier this month at the seventh annual recognition dinner presented by the Canton Regional Chapter of SCORE.The honors were for the success the companies have shown in starting or developing their operations.Each company sought and received free business development advice from SCORE volunteers.Award winners were:• InfoGPS Networks, based in Mansfield and North Canton, a software business that works with regulated companies required to manage the risks associated with collecting non-public information. Software developed by InfoGPS can view, track, monitor and classify data in real time. The company also worked with the Small Business Development Center, which corridinates with SCORE.• Canton-based Brunner Tool & Repair opened in 2006 and sought counsel from SCORE when it recently decided to expand. The company repairs, custom designs and provides maintenance for outdoor power equipment and pressure washers.• Hannah’s House 119, located in East Canton, helps girls by connecting them with meaningful relationships through foster families, adoptive families and mentors. The business hopes to help girls rise above their circumstances and to make valuable life choices as they approach adulthood.• Hazel and Rye Artisan Bakery, in North Canton, established a niche making all-natural bakery products. It also has a dining room where it serves breakfast and lunch.SCORE’s Canton Regional Chapter has 37 volunteers helping start-up businesses in Stark, Holmes, Carroll, Tuscarawas and Harrison counties. Around the country there are 300 SCORE chapters staffed by 12,000 volunteers.Three organizations that support SCORE’s mission to strengthen small business in the region — Consumers National Bank, Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co. and Maloney + Novotny LLC — co-sponsored the luncheon, which was in the Conference Center at Kent State University, Stark Campus
