Braintree inclusion effort kicks off with grant from Richland County Foundation

The Richland County Foundation Board of Trustees approved $438,330 in grants to area non-profit agencies during its December meeting.Projects that received grants from unrestricted community funds and other funds impacting area residents include:• Braintree Business and Development Center received a 10 percent local matching grant to expand its ability to work with minority, women and disadvantaged entrepreneurs.• Hospice of North Central Ohio received a grant to add equine therapy as a component to its Kidscene Bereavement Camp.• Humane Society of Richland County received a grant to fund a part-time office manager.• Mansfield Art Center received a grant to fund a new learning resource center to supplement exhibits and educational programs.• Mansfield Memorial Homes received a grant to support its Meals on Wheels program.• Richland County Sheriff’s Department received a grant to help purchase a body scanner to stop the conveyance of contraband such as drugs and other illegal items into the county jail.The Board of Trustees approved additional grants, donor-advised to meet emerging needs, to the following organizations: American Red Cross, Ashland University, Catalyst Life Services, Catholic Charities, Cousteau Society, Crawford County United Way, Culliver Reading Center, Domestic Violence Shelter, Discovery School, Galion Community Center YMCA, Galion Community Foundation, Gorman Nature Center, Harmony House, First Congregational Church, Friendly House, Little Buckeye Children’s Museum, Leadership Institute, Lucas Local Schools, Mansfield City Schools – Woodland Elementary, Mansfield Memorial Homes, Nature Conservancy, North Central Ohio Land Conservancy, Ocean Conservancy, Ohio Bird Sanctuary, Ohio State University Foundation, Raemelton Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Richland Academy of the Arts, Renaissance Performing Arts, Renaissance Theatre, Richland Community Development Group, Richland County Children’s Auxiliary aka The New Store, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Richland Newhope Industries, Salvation Army and Soldiers and Sailors Museum.
