Ten of the most influential women in Richland County business include Jodie Perry and Marilyn John:Mary K. Bolin, president, My Town Partners LLC. A year later, she was named executive director of the organization. In that position, she is responsible for economic development and community development activities. RCDG provides community development activities through volunteer sectors and serves as the single point of contact for economic development in the county. Before this position, she worked 30 years in public service with the county workforce agency.McDaniel is a graduate of Ohio State University and is a 39-year resident of the county. Bridget serves on the Chamber of Commerce Board, the United Way Board, the Mansfield-Richland Convention and Visitors Bureau Board, the Visiting Nurses Board, Workforce Partnership Advisory Committee and the TWIN Coordinating Committee. She recently was named a commissioner on the Ohio Federal Military Jobs Commission. Deborah Schenk, serves as president and chief executive officer of Mechanics Bank, which first opened its doors in 1886 and is the only remaining independent community bank in Richland County. In that capacity, she is a member of the bank's Board of Directors and that of the bank holding company, Mechanics Financial Corp. She is a member of the State of Ohio Savings and Loan and Savings Bank Commission and a past member of the Ohio Bankers League Board of Directors.Active in the community, she is a member of the OhioHealth MedCentral Hospitals Governance Council, MedCentral Legacy Board of Trustees, the Executive Board of the Richland Community Development Group and Richland County Regional Planning Commission. After graduation, she began her banking career at Bank One, Mansfield and then moved to Mechanics Bank in 1999. Schenk is the mother of three married daughters, grandmother of seven, and is enjoying her 49th year of marriage to Ludwig Schenk.Charla Irvin, vice president and trust officer, Richland Bank. Charla Irvin worked at Mansfield Aircraft Products from 1974 through 1976, then worked for Bud Wallington Accounting from 1976 through 1977. She began working at Richland Bank in June 1977 as a department secretary. She has held the following positions within the department over the last 38 years: operations clerk, operations manager, administrative assistant, trust officer, assistant vice president, vice president and promoted to head of department in 2008.Irvin served United Way of Richland County (PAC Chair – Youth, 2012, 2013 and 2014, and ad hoc on the Community Investment Committee, 2015); is a past member of Altrusa and and joined Rotary in 2010. Jodi Scott received her bachelor of arts in business administration from Malone College in Canton. After graduation, she had a brief career in marketing, public relations and group event planning at Clay's Park Resort, but has spent the last 13 years in the mall business.She started as an administrative assistant at Belden Village Mall for two years and then spent one year as assistant general manager/acting general manager at Great Northern Mall before transferring to her current position at Richland Mall. She obtained her CSM designation from ICSC in 2009 and an Ohio real estate license in 2013.She is on the United Way board and helps with the Power of the Purse. Marilyn and her husband Kevin have two children and live in Shelby.Betty Wells-Preston, chief public affairs officer/vice president, North Central State College. Betty Wells-Preston serves as the chief public affairs officer/vice president for Institutional Advancement for North Central State College.Hired in 1989 to facilitate the creation of a comprehensive resource development plan for the college including the chartering of the North Central State College Foundation, Wells-Preston has held a variety of positions, most recently the vice president for Institutional Advancement and interim executive director for North Central State College and the Foundation. Over the decades she has held a variety of responsibilities and supervised staff including admissions, financial aid, enrollment development, institutional research, government relations, grants development, recruiting, marketing, public relations, and graphic and web design.In 2013-14, she was retained as the major gifts officer as part of the University Advancement organization at The Ohio State University at Mansfield for the OSU-M Gateway capital campaign.
